How often can I give my cat catnip?
We recommend offering catnip no more than two to three times per week. After each session, cats develop a temporary immunity for about 30 minutes. During this window, offering more catnip won't produce a reaction — you'd just be wasting it.
Beyond the temporary reset, frequent exposure can gradually reduce a cat's long-term sensitivity to catnip over time. Cats who are given catnip every day may become noticeably less responsive to it compared to cats who receive it as an occasional treat.
Keeping catnip as a special, occasional experience — like a weekend treat — helps ensure your cat continues to enjoy it enthusiastically every time.
